GUEST LECTURE ON CAREER GUIDANCE BY Dr. N.APPANNA TO P.G BOTANY STUDENTS OF FIRST AND SECOND YEAR


    A guest lecture was given by Dr. N. Appanna, the former H.O.D  of the Department of Botany of Andhra Loyola College, . He gave a lecture on opportunities and type of Research work going on in
IARI- Indian Agricultural Research Institute , BSI- Botanical Survey Of India, NIN- National Institute Of Nutrition, CDRI-Central Drug Research Institute , CFTRI-Central Food And Technological Research Institute and CTRI- Central Tobacco Research Institute. He gave us tips on how knowledge could be applied in practicality and the various opportunities we hold as Botanists. He explained the need of a student to have a thirst for knowledge, to be multi-talented and creative and for teachers to be educators and lead exemplary lives. He enriched us with his experiences and inspired us by his talk.

Report on trip to Hyderabad CSIR,IICT and CCMB Exhibition




CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) Platinum Jubilee Science exhibition was held on 1st to 6th September 2017 at Zaheer memorial high school ground,CSIR-IICT campus in twin cities of Hyderabad-Secunderabad.
    The importance of conducting this science exhibition is for showcasing and highlighting the C.S.I.R contributions to the nation for the last 75 Years.
    The main beneficiary of this exhibition in this year is that participation of CCMB(Center for cellular and Molecular Biology) and IICT(Indian Institute of Chemical Technology) and NGRI(National Geophysical Research Institute) with their innovative research works and contributions to the nations were exhibited with CSIR as a part of Platinum Jubilee exhibition.
     The themes under which the exhibition conducted were:
1. Agriculture and Floriculture
2. Aerospace and strategy sector
3. Chemicals and Petrochemicals
4. CSIR rural development
5. Engineering and Infrastructure
6. Mining minerals and materials
7. Skin development
8. Ecology and environment
9. Human resources and development

T.Bhagya Lakshmi-14,Biginchi sangma-17,J.Kalpana-07,M.Jeevan Sandeep-16,B.Vinay-12,K.Durga Malleswari-06,T.Tejaswi-15.M.Sai Mounika-13 and from AMBY- J.M. Jyothsna-06 and MR. K. Sankar,Lecturer in P.G. Botany.

REPORT ON FIELD TRIP




   The first and second year students of  M.Sc Botany had been for a field trip to kondapalli on 11th of August 2017 at around 9.15 a.m.with  the  accompany of  our lecturers ,H.O.D,Professor K.Sankar  sir and Praveen sir.
     As we reached the students relished to see the rich heritage of plants and  saw a large variety of plant diversity.They observed the plant characters and learned their botanical and common names and few of their medicinal characters.We were back around 5.00 p.m.
     It was an enriching experience and the students mainly collected the plant specimens to prepare the herbarium sheets as part of academics.It evoked the botanical spirit in the students.

GUEST LECTURE BY DR.SUDHEER







A lecture talk by a most eminent researcher and scientist Dr.P.D.V.N.Sudheer,from the Korea Institute of Energy Research (K.I.E.R),South Korea was organised for the students of M.Sc botany on 24th of July,2017,in the afternoon,in the seminar hall of the P.G. block by the Botany P.G. department under the leadership of the H.O.D of the department Professor K.Sankar,under the guidance of the Vice Principal of the P.G. Block,Fr.Rex.
     A lecture was given on Proteins dealing with molecular biotechnology which is the use of laboratory techniques to study and modify nucleic acids and proteins.
    A lecture was given on Protein engineering which is the process of developing useful or valuable proteins.The resource person said that it was a young discipline,with much research taking place into the understanding of protein folding and recognition for protein design principles.
    He also  spoke on cutting-edge technology which refers to technological devices,techniques or achievements that employ the most current and high-level IT developments;in other words,technology at the frontiers of knowledge.Leading and innovative IT industry organisations.
